PIERCING AFTERCARE
SO YOU GOT A NEW BODY PIERCING, NOW WHAT?
After you get a body piercing there are somethings you should do to ensure proper healing. We recommend doing two warm saline soaks, daily, to aid your body in healing your fresh body piercing. It is very simple to make saline, the ratio of non-iodized sea salt and DISTILLED water is important.
SALINE RECIPE
Ingredients:
1 - Gallon of Distilled Water
4 - Teaspoons of Non-iodized Sea Salt
Mix ingredients, let dissolve. Store in refrigerator when not in use.

Now you are ready to do a soak. Pour enough saline into a vessel large enough to soak your piercing. Some things that work well for this include, cup, bowl, shot glass, dixie cup. You want the saline to be warm so microwaving for 30-40 seconds should do the trick. You want it warm not super hot. Completely submerge your piercing in the warm saline for at least 10 minutes at least twice a day.
Do not touch, twist or rotate the jewelry. This can cause irritation and prolong the healing process.
Stay out of large bodies of water like lakes, swimming pools, hot tubs, and take showers instead of baths. There are bacteria in these bodies of water that you do not want to introduce to your new piercing
Do not use any other products on your new piercing like antibacterial soap, Bactine, Betadine, Neosporin, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, make-up, or lotions. Most of these products will dry out your piercing, cause scarring, decrease oxygen to the healing area, and/or prolong the healing process.
Stay clean, maintain good hygiene, and boost your immune system with Vitamin C to help with the healing process.
A piercing goes through multiple stages of healing. A fresh piercing can be red, swollen, bruised, may bleed, and may have a whitish/yellow discharge (lymph fluid and white blood cells). Should you experience extremes of any of these symptoms, please contact us. Piercing Bellingham Piercing
